FAQ
Answers to the questions we hear most often about our services, pricing and billing.
It is a cloud infrastructure service offering virtual machines (CloudCompute), managed Minecraft servers, S3-compatible Object Storage and managed databases (Managed Database). Everything is created and managed from a browser console, so you can have an environment running in minutes without specialist knowledge.
Once you have registered an account, you simply pick a plan in the console and create your resource. CloudCompute instances are built automatically from a cloud image, so they are usable within minutes of ordering.
Registering and holding an account is free. Charges only start once you actually create a server or storage bucket, and you are billed monthly for what you use.
We recommend the latest versions of Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge. The console, the browser-based FTP client and the VNC console all work in these browsers.
You can sign in either with an Ugo Account (single sign-on) or with an email address and password. The first time you sign in with an Ugo Account, any existing account using the same email address is linked automatically.
Ubuntu and AlmaLinux. Both are built from cloud images, so you can log in over SSH immediately after creation.
Yes. In addition to the plan (a combination of vCPU and memory) you can choose disk capacity, network type (shared or dedicated IP) and link speed. CPUs are Intel Xeon E5 / Xeon Gold and storage is redundant Ceph storage.
You can choose between a shared IP and a dedicated IP. With a shared IP, NAT ports are issued automatically; with a dedicated IP, the server uses the global IP directly. Networking runs over the standard VPC at up to 1 Gbps.
The server detail page in the console shows the connection command and lets you copy it with one click, with the correct default user name for each OS already filled in. You can register an SSH public key when you create the server.
Yes. Start, stop and reboot are one click away in the console, and you can choose between a graceful shutdown and a force stop. Reinstalling the OS (rebuild) is also supported.
You can open a VNC console from the browser. Even if a misconfigured network leaves SSH unreachable, you can recover the machine over VNC.
Both are supported. You choose the edition when you create the server, and for Java Edition you can pick Vanilla, Paper, Spigot, Forge or Fabric.
Yes. Choosing Forge or Fabric builds a mod server, while Paper or Spigot builds a plugin server. You can place files in the mods and plugins directories using the browser-based FTP client.
The browser-based FTP file manager lets you upload, download and delete any file, including world data. You do not need a separate FTP client.
An RCON console is available in the browser. You can run commands such as /say and /op on the spot and see the responses.
An FQDN and SRV record are issued automatically through the Cloudflare DNS integration, so players can connect using only the issued address, without typing a port number.
With automatic backups enabled, world data is captured once a day and copies older than 7 days are deleted automatically. This is offered as an operational convenience rather than a guarantee of recovery, so download anything important yourself over FTP as well.
Yes. The API is S3-compatible, so aws-cli and S3 SDKs work as-is. Virtual-hosted style URLs (<bucket>.s3.ugoemo.net) are supported.
A flat rate plus usage, with capacity charged at ¥10 per GB per month. Usage is metered daily and invoiced at the end of each month.
A single toggle in the console switches a bucket to anonymous read access (public). This is ideal for serving static sites or acting as a CDN origin, and you can switch it back to private at any time.
The file manager in the console lets you list, upload, download and delete objects in one click. Uploads are sent straight from the browser using presigned URLs.
MySQL, MariaDB and PostgreSQL are supported. Setup finishes as soon as you pick an engine and version, and an admin user is issued automatically. The versions shown in the console are always the current list.
By default the database is reachable only from the same VLAN. Enabling the public endpoint assigns a dedicated IP and an FQDN so you can connect from outside; every port except the database's own listener is then blocked automatically.
You can set the permitted source IPs and CIDRs in the console. If you enable the public endpoint without setting any restriction, the database accepts connections from anywhere, so always configure this.
You can create and change logical databases, users and privileges (readonly / readwrite / owner) from the console. Selected parameters can be tuned within the permitted range, and metrics such as connection count and query rate are shown as well.
We do not take backups of Managed Database instances. Please take your own dumps with mysqldump, pg_dump or a similar tool and store them somewhere such as Object Storage.
You can pay from your point balance, online via PayPal, or online by credit card (Stripe). Linking a PayPal account or a credit card lets invoices be settled automatically as soon as they are issued.
Points are a yen-denominated prepaid balance that can be applied to usage fees at one point per yen. They are granted by redeeming a redemption code and, while we are accepting purchases, by buying them online. They cannot be exchanged for cash, refunded or moved to another account.
At the start of each month we bill the previous month's usage in a single invoice. Payment is due within 7 days of the invoice being issued. If your point balance is sufficient, it is debited automatically when the invoice is issued.
Yes. If you create or delete a server partway through the month, you are billed only for the period it was running, prorated by day.
An invoice past its due date is marked overdue. After a further 7 days your servers are suspended, and after another 7 days (14 days past the due date in total) they are deleted. Once all outstanding invoices are paid, suspended servers are restored automatically.
You can delete servers and buckets from the console at any time. Usage up to the moment of deletion is prorated by day and added to your next invoice. No cancellation request is required.
Because of the nature of the service, we are unable to offer refunds after use has begun. See "Act on Specified Commercial Transactions" for details.
The prices shown exclude tax; Japanese consumption tax at the statutory rate is added to each invoice. Internet access and communication charges are your responsibility.
Each plan has a monthly data transfer allowance covering traffic sent and received. You choose how overage is handled when you create the server: either the link speed is throttled at no extra charge, or the speed is maintained and the excess is billed by usage. We notify you as you approach the allowance.
